The Race

Everything you need for race day.

The route, timings, parking and everything else you need to know before you line up on the Abbey Green.

The Route

A measured 10km through the heart of Battle.

The route is the same as in previous years. Starting at 10am on Battle High Street, heading up to the roundabout, turning around and going down the High Street, along Lower Lake and turning into Powdermill Lane. From here the race heads towards Catsfield before turning back towards Battle along Catsfield Road, along North Trade Road, and finishing on the Abbey Green with the historic Battle Abbey as the backdrop.

Road Closures

Please plan ahead.

Please note the following road closures will be in force for the race:

Battle High Street will be closed between 9.20am–9.40am and again between 9.50am–10.20am. Stop and go boards will operate from 10.30am until 11.15am.

Powdermill Lane will be closed from 10am until 10.45am.

Please be aware there may be delays outside of these times due to the volume of traffic.

Race Day Essentials

Good to know before you arrive.

Race Numbers

All runners will be required to collect their race number on the day. Collection desks on the Abbey Green will be open from 8.30am, split depending on your number. We'll have a small supply of safety pins at the check-in desk, but we'd recommend bringing your own to save any disappointment.

What to Wear & Safety

As this is a road race, please wear the most high-visibility attire possible. Your number must be pinned to the front of your vest and displayed prominently across your chest. Please write any medical information and an emergency contact number on the back of it, and avoid using headphones — parts of the course run alongside open traffic.

Location & Start

The race starts on Battle High Street. Please be in your estimated time-zone position by 9.55am for a 10am start. Heading up the High Street, keep to the left-hand side of the road as far as the roundabout, and to the other side after it, to avoid runners coming the other way.

Parking

There's parking at Battle Station, a five-minute walk away, plus further pay-and-display parking at Mount Street and Jempsons car parks. Charges apply, even on a Sunday.

Toilets

Limited temporary toilets are sited on the Abbey Green next to the finish line.

Changing & Belongings

There's an area for on-the-day registration and event control where you can leave your belongings, at your own risk. Please direct any queries to an organiser in the Event Control area.

On the Course

There are two drinks stations along the route, plus an additional station at the finish line, with km markers at every kilometre up to 9km and a digital clock on display at the finish.

Medical Provision

Medical teams provide cover throughout the event, stationed at all drinks stations and in communication with marshals, with back-up vehicles on hand if required.

Prize Giving

Awards will be presented on the Abbey Green at approximately 11.15am, with trophies presented by the Mayor of Battle.

Finishing Times & Results

Finishing times for all runners are posted on the nice work website in the days following the event.
